Audi, besides the purely electric e-tron SUV, also prepares e-tron sportback, e-tron GT, but also invests in hybrid technology where the three premium executive sedans, A6, A7, A8, and top SUVs Q7 and Q8 from Audi, adopt hybrid technology in their basic equipment in 12 or 48 volt implementations. This mild hybrid technology ensures significantly more fuel economy.
At the same time, while the range is enriched with new, much more powerful engines, the models – due to reduced taxation due to hybrid technology – are offered at much lower prices than before, with the customer benefitting up to 14,000 €!
It is worth mentioning that besides the above models, the hybrid technology also applies to certain two-liter gasoline engines, Audi A4, A5 and Q5.
The hybrid technology on the four-cylinder models of the models operates at 12 Volt, while on the V6 with 48 Volt and ensures energy recovery during braking. At this stage, the belt starter exchanger, the heart of the hybrid technology, delivers electricity to a separate lithium-ion battery under the luggage compartment.
The lithium-ion battery provides the energy needed to automatically and subtly start the engine when it is needed. The energy benefit is far from negligible: for example, in the case of the Q8, thanks to the hybrid technology, fuel consumption is reduced by 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
