The largest photovoltaic park in Cyprus ready for operation

By the end of 2019, the largest photovoltaic park in Cyprus is expected to become operational, as the final screening procedures foreseen before production begins. The Vassiliko Cement Works Park of 8 MW was constructed in the inactive quarry of the company in the area of Amala, between the communities of Psematimenos and Choirokoitia.

In the same area there is an area available for the further expansion of the park, a prospect already examined by the company, having prepared a plan for installation of 5MW Extra. According to a relevant information from the company, the construction costs of the park amounted to about 7 million euros.

The expected annual output of 13.5 million kWh is expected to replace 10% of the current needs of Vassiliko cement works in electricity.
