Mercedes EQS will be the first electric AMG?
The pure electric, Mercedes EQS probably features a fast version where for the first time the AMG logo will accompany an electric car. The luxury sedan was unveiled in September 2019 in prototype form and is expected to be launched on the market sometime in 2021.
We are talking about a limousine the size of the current E-Class, which thanks to the “virtues” of the electric power-train and the smart solutions of the German company’s engineers, will offer spaces similar to those of the S-Class.
For the EQS motion and, at least in the form we met, it takes care a power-train with 467 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque. Certainly, although it is enough for a “simple” EQS, it needs an additional “tune” to make it worth putting in an AMG.

According to the information from Autocar.co.uk, Mercedes-AMG EQS will provide the lucky ones, when officially unveiled in 2022, with approximately 600 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, giving performance comparable to that of Mercedes-AMG S63.

Thus, the 0-100 will be completed in about 3.5 seconds and the top speed will be electronically limited to 250 km/h as these are the numbers achieved by the S-Class with the 4-litre twin-turbo V8.
At the same time, the “hot” EQS will be equipped with an advanced all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring and an energy recovery system that evolves based on the technology and know-how that AMG has acquired from Formula 1.
For now, of course, all this is unconfirmed information, so let’s wait better to see the basic EQS before we start speculating on the top version of it.
