Next-Gen of Kia Stinger probably full electric

Kia has not decided about the future of Next-Gen Kia Stinger

The Next-Gen of Kia Stinger will probably embrace electricity since the pollutants of the current model will “kill it”. The Korean firm is considering its abolition as sales are well below expected. But the Stinger was the biggest surprise in Kia’s modern course.

A rear-wheel-drive (and four-wheel drive) four-door coupe out of nowhere, confronted by the Audi A5 Sportback and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. An excellent effort in thought and execution, but which seems to be in imminent danger.

The Stinger is available with three engines: 2.0lt. 245 horsepower turbo (rear-wheel drive only), 2.2 200-horsepower diesel and the top 3.3 twinturbo V6 of 366 HP. Kia’s head of design, Karim Habib, explains: “As technology goes towards electric cars and the needs/requirements of the purchasing public change, the Stinger will probably have to adapt.”

At the same time, he stressed the patience that the company should show with its commercial appeal: “The buying public is not used to the idea of a sports sedan with kia brands. We have to be patient with the Stinger. I believe there must be at least one more generation before any decision is made on its future.”

In 2019, model sales fell by 18% compared to 2018, while in the first quarter of this year, sales have fallen by an additional 21%, compared to the same period last year.
