The affordable electric car is in VW plans and according to the latest reports, the German company is reported to have taken over the new project entirely. This will be an entry-level electric model intended to replace the VW e-Up, Seat Mii Electric and Skoda Citigo-e iV.
Initially, the VW affordable electric car project currently known as “MEB Entry” as it will make use of MEB architecture for pure electric models and will be placed at the base of the range, was developed by SΕΑΤ in collaboration with the Chinese JAC Automobile Group.
But the leaving of the CEO of the Spanish brand and a mini-restructuring of VW Group’s operations in china led Volkswagen to undertake the exclusive development of the new affordable electric vehicle.

An important role in the German company’s decision was played by the fact that SEAT will not enter the Chinese market as planned for 2021. Volkswagen launched, successfully as it deserves to note, its Jetta sub-brand that sells slightly redesigned Seat models in China.
However, this means that there no need to SEAT developing there. As it makes no sense for VW to working with Chinese JAC on the development of an entry-level electrical model as long as it does not enter the Chinese market.
