Elon Musk’s expectations paid off after Tesla managed a new production milestone for 2020. Specifically, the electric vehicle company achieved production of 509,737 units while it managed to deliver 499,550 models. These figures clearly show that Tesla achieved a new sales record for a year, considering Elon musk’s company’s short history.
Specifically for 2020, Tesla produced 54,805 Model S/Model X and 454,932 Model 3/Model Y. In terms of deliveries 57,039 were Model S and Model X while 442,511 Model 3 and Model Y.

Also the Q4 of 2020 was by far the most successful quarter for Tesla. Thus it produced 179,757 units while it managed to deliver 180,570 models. Specifically, Tesla produced 16,097 Model S/Model X and 163,660 Model 3/Model Y while delivering 18,920 Model S/Model X and 161,650 Model 3/Model Y.
evNT Note :
There is no doubt that this is a great success for Elon Musk’s company, regardless of the fact that the deliveries were a bit of an ideal number. This success is also even greater when we consider the difficult conditions that the car market had in 2020 with Covid19 crisis. Tesla’s first large-scale electric model was the Model S just eight years ago. So the 500,000 pure electric cars are a great achieve considering also that electric vehicles are not yet so popular around the world.
