Tesla’s advantage in EVs won’t last according to BMW CEO

Tesla’s advantage in EVs has been great in recent years where 2020 was the best year for the Californian company, managing to sell nearly half a million models.

But bmw’s CEO says Tesla will find it very difficult to keep its leading role in electric cars in the coming years. Oliver Zipse (President of the Board of Management BMW Group) believes Tesla will lose first place in sales of electric vehicles.

With the BMW i4 and iX coming this year, the German company hopes to double sales of electric vehicles.

BMW though a little late this year is expected to make significant launches of pure electric models and is hoping for a major piece in the sales pie in electric vehicles. On the other hand, Tesla is now looking very strong and we believe that for 2021 it will not face strong competition. With the best selling electric Model 3 and the new pure electric Compact SUV Model Y will hold up sales numbers for at least the next two years. We should also remember the new cheap Tesla of $25,000 where it is expected in the next two to three years and will play a key role in the course of the American company.
