New BMW iX3 first all-electric SUV review | video

New BMW iX3 represents a new generation of electric vehicles of the German company and this zero-pollution SUV complements a plethora of versions of the X3 series. Sales start in the middle of the year and will be in China where it is produced. The innovations brought to the market by the BMW i3 are cleverly combined with the 5th generation of BMW eDrive technology, achieving improvements in operational autonomy through increased performance.

BMW’s new electric SUV features a fifth-generation electric motor (eDrive) where it has acquired a high level of development. The energy efficiency of the electric motor reaches an impressive 93% compared to thermal engines which is at 40%. The electric motor of the new BMW iX3 operates according to the principles of a modern stimulation motor without the use of magnets. This design allows the complete avoidance of rare earths in the construction of the engine.

New BMW iX3 has a battery with a total capacity of 80 kWh, with 74 kWh available for the user where it gives a total range of up to 459 km in the WLTP cycle and up to 520 km according to the NEDC standard. The new BMW iX3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, like the conventional BMW X3 xDrive30i. The top speed is limited by the electronic cutter to 180 km/h.
