VW creates its own company for battery manufacturing
VW enters the process of battery manufacturing, hiring a former Apple executive to lead the effort. VW will build six major battery plants in Europe, with Salzgitter becoming the energy hub of its future electric vehicles.
With this move Volkswagen will emphasize the creation of all the necessary infrastructure for the further development of electrification, to which the company is committed.

It is worth noting that in the new scheme the management will be taken over by Soonho Ahn, who until recently was the head of Apple’s battery development department, which shows how big the leak of executives from Apple’s Project Titan is.
The Salzgitter plant will be one of Volkswagen’s six major battery plants in Europe, for which savings of around EUR 2 billion have already been made. Production is expected to start from 2025 onwards.
