The BMW iX M60 is the third variant of the BMW iX, after the xDrive40 and the xDrive50, powered by two electric motors that deliver up to 619 HP and 1,015 Nm of torque combined in the Sport mode and 1100 Nm with Launch Control enabled.
Under normal circumstances, the drive units of the new BMW iX M60 deliver a maximum power of 540 horsepower, offering the Sport mode, in which the power is “rocketed” to 455 kW, acceleration from standstill to the first 100 km /h in a time of 3.8 dl. and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h.
According to the preliminary measurements of the Germans under the WLTP protocol, the maximum autonomy of the lithium-ion battery of more than 100 kWh is 566 km.
The philosophy of the aluminum space frame frame and the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in places such as the roof, sides and rear, constitute an “intelligent” mixture of materials that increases rigidity while reducing weight.
The reference point in the new Bavarian flagship is the air suspension, which is found on both axles, increasing, depending on the requirements, the height of the body.
At the same time, the iX M60 has special settings on shock absorbers and springs signed by BMW M. This is the case with both the electric all-wheel drive system and the equivalent responsible for controlling wheel slip based on a specially designed actuator.
The interior follows in the footsteps of the smaller versions, although here the sporty touches, such as the multi-functional seats with integrated headrests, are more than distinct.
The new BMW iX M60 will be manufactured along with the other versions of the all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) at BMW’s Dingolfing plant with the launch starting in June 2022.
