Tesla Model Y: Cabin Air Clean on another level

Clean cabin air is extremely important, and Tesla has one more reason to demonstrate it in the Model Y. Filters that meet the HEPA standard should have some basic levels of performance.

Common standards require that a HEPA air filter must be removed from passing air, at least 99.95%. HEPA filters capture pollen, dirt, dust, moisture, bacteria (0.2-2.0 μm), virus (0.02-0.3 μm) and submicry aerosol liquid (0.02-0.5 μm).

The Tesla Model Y features a highly efficient HEPA filter for cabin ventilation where it can and does remove 99.97% of airborne particulates. The effectiveness of this filter can be seen in the video below where Tesla compares the filter performance on the Model Y compared to another car.

As you can watch, the results are impressive since after a while the cabin of the Model Y remains “clean” from smoke inputs, while in the other car it shows that the atmosphere inside is particularly stuffy since the cabin is filled with red “smoke”!
