A Tesla with a “monster” battery was spotted on the streets in the United States and technical features at least impressively!
To achieve the range of a total of 1,210 kilometers, the American company ONE – whose initials mean “Our Next Energy” developed the battery with a capacity of 203.7 kWh, double the factory of the Model S, and increased its density to 416 Wh / L.
Testing the Tesla Model S “Gemini 1” in practice, on the roads of Michigan, USA, ONE officials claimed that they managed to complete 1,210 kilometers before the car needs a new charge, with an average hourly speed of 88 km/h. In addition, they conducted another test on their test bench, with which they achieved a range of 1,419 km/h, at the same average speed.
Of course, the Gemini 001 battery is still in an experimental stage, and we will have to wait and see if its final production version – which ONE is planning for 2023 – will manage to score corresponding autonomy figures. As well as also what happens to the extra weight of the battery of twice the capacity.
Tesla had planned to develop the Plaid+ version of the Model S, with the aim of increasing the autonomy of its luxury sedan above 800 kilometers, but this plan was abandoned.
At the same time, in addition to ONE, Mercedes has achieved four-digit autonomy with the Vision EQXX prototype – which was also presented at the CES report – but also the Chinese with the Nio ET7 and ET5 (150 kW battery, 1,000 km range) and with the GAC Aion LX Plus (144.4 kWh battery, range 1,008 km).
ONE, however, plans to launch at the end of 2022 its most modest LFP-type Aries battery with a capacity of 79 kWh, an energy density of 287 Wh/L and a weight of 550 kg.
