Hyundai IONIQ 5 continues to win other awards and recently ranked first in the first ballot of the 2021/2022 “Best Cars of the Year” awards.
IONIQ 5 was distinguished for its quality, innovation, design and cutting-edge technologies by a jury consisting of global industry leaders from across the automotive industry.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 won the title surpassing new models from established premium brands, including the Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-e and Porsche Taycan. The top ten places were occupied by different brands covering six countries spread over the top three continents of car production in the world – Asia, Europe and North America.
“We are proud that our first pure electric battery vehicle was awarded as the Best Car of the Year,” said Heung Soo Kim, Head of the EV Business Division at Hyundai Motor Group. “It sends a clear message that the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a world-class electric vehicle but also that we are on the right track with our strategy for electrification. People can expect more great EV models next year.”
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 features a modern retro design and is based on the company’s E-GMP platform. The all-electric CUV has generous internal proportions thanks to the 3,000mm wheelbase offering an excellent interior space, dynamic performance, ultra-fast charging and an optimal experience in the car. The combination of all these elements adds to the universal reach of IONIQ 5.
The “Best Cars of the Year” Awards aim to create a unique and completely democratic view of the “best” vehicles available around the world.
The jury is made up of top executives of the automotive industry, creating a different background that incorporates designers, engineers, motorsport pioneers, renowned journalists, broadcasters and media professionals as well as outstanding car sales executives, consultants, large event organizers and real car buyers.
