Τechnologies of the new Renault Megane E-TECH

The new Megane E-Tech Electric has a variety of technologies since more than 300 patents have been filed during the design of the car and its innovative platform.

The French automaker has over 10 years of experience in the manufacture and development of electric vehicles and with the new Megane E-Tech Electric wants to star in the new era of electromobility. In all these years of experience gained by Renault, more than 400,000 EVs have been sold, covering 10 billion kilometers.

The Megane E-TECH Electric is the 5th generation of Renault’s popular small and medium-sized cars, and goes beyond the data we knew so far about the model, but also about the category. It is pure electric and brings new technological developments in all areas, from design and spatial study, to innovations, electric power train technology and connectivity, the new Megane E-TECH Electric is the car of the future.

With the new Megane E-TECH Electric, Renault continues to innovate since, as mentioned above, more than 300 patents have been filed that concern all sectors and give it a particularly advanced character.

Going back in time, the Megane 2 was one of the first cars to incorporate composite plastic fenders into the front wheels, thus significantly reducing weight as well as being more resistant to small contacts. So, in the new Megane E-TECH Electric the new rear door is now technically simpler. The combination of a new design with the modern process of manufacturing with plastic injection, managed to reduce the metal brackets and consequently the components required for its installation.

Another innovation that is not immediately visible but “felt” when driving it is the ride quality and quietness that the new French model offers to the driver and occupants. The people behind this modern application removed the old soundproofing materials that were under the carpet of the floor – including a large amount of resin – by placing under the floor panel of the new Megane E-Tech Electric, a new patented shock-absorbing foam.

The new solution adopted for the sound insulation of the new Megane E-Tech Electric gathers a number of advantages such as an improved level of sound insulation of the car (-10dB), better spaces for passengers.

The electric motor also has compact dimensions and reduced weight while offering more power and torque. The new generation motor with winding rotor, is a technology that Renault has been using for years and offers higher performance than the permanent magnet motor. The most important thing, however, is the absence of rare earths in its construction that takes care of logistical adequacy, while limiting environmental impact and production costs.

It should also be noted that the new Renault Mégane E-TECH Electric has up to 26 ADAS, divided into systems for driving, parking and safety, according to the company.
